In the last release we already introduced new graphics for the flora. With this release we also added more variations, which Sophie Pantazi painted for us. Especially forests should look more natural now. This sacrifices some of the clear readability of the growth progress, but we think it still has a good balance between function and appearance.
The graphics of the plants and buildings are now more detailed than before. The ground textures were more in line with the abstract look of the predecessors. We have adjusted that in this release as well. We hope with the graphical changes of the last months, we have created something that you also like.
We have already heard the desire to leave the old graphics selectable. But we can't do this at the moment because of the amount of work we have to do. We would have to add UI elements to manage this, and we would have to drill the engine to swap out textures during runtime. We don't want to dismiss the possibility that we might do something like that later, but right now we would have to push too many other things to the back of the schedule.
We often get the question why the paths can only be built in six directions. Confusing here was certainly the fact that we drew a square grid on the world map as a visual orientation. However, the game mechanics for building and path construction are based on hexagons.
To clear up some of this confusion, we disabled the square grid and gave the markers for the currently selected field the hexagon shape. If necessary, the grid will also return as a hexgon-grid in one of the next releases.
In addition, we improved and fixed the following things:
- Bug Fixes
- possible crash in the render engine while app closing
- possible crash in logic, while dropping a ware
We wish you a lot of fun
